Fears. We all have them whether they’re rational or irrational. Whether they’re based on truth or fiction we’ve created in our heads. Fears have a wide range of varieties and most people when they think of fears think of things like snakes, the dark, sharks, etcetera. Beyond these almost superficial fears however lies fears that shape our character overall. In my recent transition to a new place I have rediscovered some of those fears like the fear of being annoying, the fear that no one wants to be around me, the fear of not being a good musician, and unfortunately many more. It is in realizing theses fears that I’m reminded that having these fears is not what shapes who I am, but what I do about these fears. God tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that has NOT given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of LOVE, POWER, and SELF DISCIPLINE. That is who God has called all of us to be. Every day we all have to make the choice whether we are going to embrace these fears and let them take control of our lives, or we believe what God has said in His Word. We give all of our fears and worries to Him, and He will take care of the rest. Some days we’ll fail and let the fear control us. In those times we have to get back up, and give our fears to Him again. This is not easy, and it will probably never be easy. However nothing worth while ever came easily.
